Prof Jan Wright, Prof Sue Shore, Prof Valerie Kinloch, Dr Bea Staley

Friday, February 24, 2017

Professor Valerie Kinloch from Ohio State University visited Charles Darwin University in February to present a series of public lectures focused on global research and community-engaged research methodologies.  This event followed our highly successful Methodologies for Territory Symposium in December 2016.  Both initiatives are laying the foundations for a research program engaging higher education lecturers in an investigation of global practice towards diversity and equity and an edited book on Methodologies for Global/Local Engagement.  Please contact Professor Sue Shore for more details.

Dr Kinloch Valerie Kinloch is Professor of Literacy Studies in the Department of Teaching and Learning as well as the newly appointed Associate Dean of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement in the College of Education and Human Ecology at Ohio State University. Her research examines the literacies and community engagements of young people and adults inside and outside schools. She is author of publications on race, place, literacy, and diversity.

The highlights of the events were as below:

Public Lecturers: Engaging with Others, Engaging with Ourselves: Toward a Collaborative, Community-Engaged Research Methodology.

Food for Thought: Taking Up the Challenge: Global Research and Diversity with Educators Across the World.
