Partnership with Palmerston Senior College
International Graduate Centre of Education and Palmerston Senior College signed a five year MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to work together under an innovative Research School Partnership. Palmerston Senior College became the Northern Territory’s first official Research School when CDU and PSC signed off on the MoU on Thursday the 3rd of November. The purpose of the partnership is to promote outcomes of Teaching and Learning excellence through evidence based studies and that are cognisant of the particularities of Palmerston Senior College and its Northern Territory context and academic and professional engagement activities between CDU staff and students and Palmerston Senior College staff and students.
MoU serves to formalise the partnership and establish the framework within which Charles Darwin University’s International Graduate Centre of Education (IGCE) and Palmerston Senior College will work together to achieve the goals of Research and engagement for mutual benefits for both parties.
“The International Graduate Centre of Education is excited to be involved in this collaboration. Partnerships are important but elevating it to the level of an MoU and grounding it in the day to day life of a school is critical. This as an opportunity to interrupt the idea that schools are mere end-users of research or static petri dishes from which to scrape a sample of school life. We are partners in this venture and university researchers need to be in there with principals, school leaders, teachers and children doing the work to understand and explore schooling with them.” Professor Sue Shore – Director IGCE
